<p>EWE is a multi-service energy company, headquartered in Oldenburg in the German federal state of Lower Saxony. It pursues interests in several alternative/new energy sources, including wind power, biomass, photovoltaics, and fuel cells. In the past few years, EWE has concentrated much effort on natural gas and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.</p> <p>In 1998 EWE began participating in worldwide field trials of 1kWe pre-series residential SOFC systems developed by Sulzer Hexis, which led in 2000 to further testing of test pilot CHP systems with Vaillant. Over 30 HXS 1000 Premiere pilot systems are currently installed in German homes and EWE plans to install more than 150 more in the next years. |
