Advocacy & Monitoring

Energy and climate change issues have become more and more central on the European agenda over the last years. This commitment from EU institutions, Member States and citizens has resulted in December 2008 in the adoption of the Climate and Energy Package aiming at, inter alia, a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Due to the emergency stressed by climate experts, energy and climate change policies are doomed to keep this dominant position. The European Union is now negociating its position for the global climate summit to take place in Copenhagen in December 2009.

FuelCellEurope's mission is to participate in the most active and effective way possible within the political debate, arguing that fuel cell technologies are a key solution to fight climate change and respond to the EU energy challenges.

Capturing fuel cells potential for Europe still requires active preparation of the EU policy makers to remove the regulatory and economic barriers to the adoption of fuel cells and enhance financial incentives. Collaborative and demonstration project accross Europe are key to demonstrate fuel cells benefits and advantages.

FuelCellEurope is conducting thorough advocacy and monitoring activities on selected EU policies. Specific efforts are focused towards  monitoring discussions among EU policy makers on tax & subsidies  for green technologies. Constantly identifying funding opportunities that could benefits to fuel cells development, FuelCellEurope is also striving to promote and develop European projects under FP7 or IEE, across Europe. FuelCellEurope always keep an eye on International developments, as this is key to stay at the forefront of fuel cell policy developments.
